If DEI is Dead, What Do Women Leaders Do Now?

By Tracy Saunders

As someone with a Women’s Studies degree and an Executive Certification in DEI, it’s been excruciating to see the dissolution of the hard work of those who’ve spent their lives and careers working to create more equitable and inclusive spaces for women in corporate.
But even if the companies show us who they truly are and are no longer hiding their true disregard for inclusion and the need to address the systemic inequities that persist in the hiring process for women, we’re not giving up.
In fact, we’re doubling down on our mission to ensure women can break through the barriers that keep them feeling stuck, stagnant, unseen, or undervalued in corporate America.
We’ve known for a long time that hiring is inherently biased—especially at the top—and women face unique challenges at every level—particularly when it comes to securing leadership roles.
That’s precisely why, when I left corporate, I didn’t start a traditional recruiting agency.
I founded a company designed to make a meaningful difference and move the needle for women.
Frankly, the employer-side approach has never worked for women (trust me, I’ve been in the trenches), so I created BossmakeHer to shift the focus, so women can ACTUALLY succeed through the process.
We don’t work for big companies; we work for women.
Yes, the data is there: companies with more women at the top are more innovative, productive, and inclusive.
And while that’s important, this is about so much more than statistics.
This is about helping women thrive in their careers—enjoying their work lives and feeling seen, heard, and valued at the highest levels. When we do that, we organically give young women more hope and inspiration to follow in their footsteps.
Tech remains a male-dominated industry, rife with inherent biases that hold women back.
Even if the world’s largest companies decide to ignore this reality, we will not.
As the job search gets even harder for women due to these changes, we remain steadfast in our mission to help women make meaningful career moves to companies that genuinely value them, creating a ripple effect that improves diversity and equity across the corporate landscape—one woman at a time.
We’re in this to create REAL CHANGE, transform lives, and, in turn, corporate cultures.
Ladies, please do not be discouraged.
We are here for you—every step of the way. 💕
